WELCOME

We are glad you have chosen to visit our Projects page. As you are no doubt already aware, we seek to advance the mission and vision of Knockalva Polytechnic College (KPC). We urge you to join us in this commitment to help KPC become a model college for teaching, learning, applied research, and entrepreneurship.

As a new polytechnic college, Knockalva has embarked on a challenging but exciting journey to become the hub for development and sustainability research and training in Western Jamaica. This means work in many applied disciplines, including, but not limited to, agriculture, food-processing, horticulture, technology, management, and entrepreneurship .

It is well known that Jamaica is home to the most sought after marijuana and that this “weed” has a wide range of medicinal properties. Note, however, that marijuana is only one of many plants with demonstrable health and medicinal properties found plentifully in Jamaica. In light of this reality, among the many questions facing Knockalva alumni, Knockalva Polytechnic College, and the government of Jamaica are: How can we create the needed partnerships to take full advantage of the herbal resources with which the nation is endowed? How might we create a model of resource monitization that will enable us to empower a new generation of scientists, entrepreneurs, farmers, and other practitioners to reduce or eliminate poverty? and How can we maximize our capacity for food security within a 360 degrees model of development? 

Remember that:

Thinking is not enough, we must share our thoughts. Speaking is not enough, we must translate our words into coherent and actionable ideas. Good ideas are not enough, we must convert good ideas into constructive action.
